New Safety Standards for Remote-Controlled Mowers Announced

2025-01-20 | Industry News

The International Organization for Standardization has released updated safety standards for remote-controlled mowing equipment, effective June 2025. The new standards, designated ISO 5395-4, focus on remote operation safety, emergency stop systems, battery compliance, and electromagnetic interference protection.

Key requirements include a secondary emergency stop mechanism independent of the remote control, improved battery thermal management to prevent overheating, and stricter electromagnetic shielding to avoid signal interference. Manufacturers must also provide clearer safety labeling and operational training documentation. The standards apply to all remote-controlled mowers with cutting widths exceeding 400mm.

Industry experts note that while compliance will require design modifications and recertification for some existing models, the standards ultimately benefit users by reducing accident risks and improving equipment reliability. King Mower has confirmed that its current product lineup already meets most of the new requirements and will be fully certified before the deadline.
